Writing My Own Epitaph

Long ago at a business meeting, an inspirational speaker talked about solving problems if you don’t like setting goals. Most of the talk is lost to my recollection, but there was a point that has stuck with me over the years. The point was that if you want to live a fulfilling life you should write your own epitaph. Doing so is an intense exercise in trying to figure out who you are and how you would want to be remembered after you die. Writing your own epitaph provides you with the simple truth about yourself that becomes the guiding principle in how you live day to day. I’ve been thinking about this recently. There are lots of ideas that come up on an internet search of “how to write your own epitaph.” Many are inspiring.
